Development of An Analytical Method for Design of Electromagnetic Energy Harvesters with Planar Magnetic Arrays

In this paper, an analytical method is proposed for the modeling of electromagnetic energy harvesters (EMEH) with planar arrays permanent magnets. It shown that can accurately simulate generation electrical power in EMEH from vibration a bridge subjected to traffic loading. The consists two parallel 5 by small cubic magnets (PMs) are firmly attached solid aluminum base plate, and thick rectangular copper coil connected plate through set four springs. move relative magnetic when external excitation caused vehicles passing over bridge. model used formulize interaction between moving electromechanical coupling both mechanical domains EMEH. A finite element developed verify accuracy compute force acting on coil. then conduct parametric study optimize arrangement PM poles, thereby maximize outputted results analysis using show EMEH, under resonant condition, deliver average as large 500 mW poles arranged alternately along direction peak acceleration 0.1 g. proof-of-concept prototype fabricated test its performance given PMs lab field environments.
